American Fork Youth Baseball to include National and Beehive Leagues.....

BEKY BEATON - North County
The American Fork little league baseball program has been completely restructured and will now be organized according to the high school boundaries.

The move also affects Pleasant Grove players who live in the AFHS boundary area. They are encouraged to join the new league but will still be able to play in Pleasant Grove if they so choose.

After discussions the past several years, the boards of those two remaining leagues both voted to consolidate, and they met together on Thursday to begin the new organization, which will be called the American Fork Youth Baseball League.

The AFBYL is also dropping its long-time affiliation with the Western Boys Baseball Association and will be going independent for the moment.

There will be eight Major League teams, the most competitive level, which will draft boundary-wide for ages 10-12. There will also be teams available for ages 6-12 organized in east and west divisions.

Check next week's sports section for details on that plus complete tryout and registration information.
